Shopping in virtual reality on eBay

From now on all you need to do to buy something is to look at it.

eBay has developed its own VR application in collaboration with Australian clothes distributor Myer. Now everyone can visit the first virtual reality store. Online shopping has never been so real and immersive before.

Application Virtual Reality Department Store is supported by Android and iOS smartphones.  If you do not have a VR headset or goggles, you can get cardboard glasses from eBay for free. To get them, you need to submit a request on the website of the store.

Sight Search technology allows “walking” in the store and filling you basket with your single look. In order to place the product you like into your buying list, you need to look at it for several seconds.

Images of only 100 top-selling goods were made three-dimensional. The rest – almost 12.5 thousand products – are available in 2D. For now virtual reality store can be used only for searching products. In order to complete the purchase, you will need to take off VR glasses and go back to application.

VR technologies are getting more and more widespread in marketing. Previously, famous Swedish furniture distributor IKEA offered its customers to have a look at kitchen units in virtual reality. Application allowed users to change the colour of drawers and choose one of three offered variants of layout.
