Moscow embraced AR and VR at AR Conference 2016
It’s no secret that 2016 is a year of VR and AR. Graphics and sound effects are on the verge of reaching the esthetic limit. VR/AR gadgets offer products for any taste and budget: from cardboard devices with lenses to cool headsets with eye-tracking and other advanced technologies.
On March 10, Courtyard Moscow City Center hotel gathered developers, business representatives, digital agencies and technology evangelists, to discuss key AR/VR trends.
AR Conference shared insights on application of AR/VR technologies in various business segments. Conference and exhibition was visited by more than 400 people keen to listen to 21 presentations and 2 panel discussions. Event was organized by the international leader of exhibition business – Smile-Expo.
Key points of panel discussion
As part of the key program of AR Conference, experts discussed relevant topics, future of the industry and its deterrent aspects, issues of low awareness of companies, potential consumers and younger generation, as well as ways of solving the problem and integrating of AR/VR technologies into school education.
Presentation “Deterrent to growth of AR/VR technologies. Factors of perfect development” opened the discussion with Vasiliy Ryzhonkov (Skolkovo), Aleksandr Lavrov (Vizzera), Oleg Radchenko (Maas Agency), Aleksey Svirskiy (Fibrum), Vitaliy Chegerev (“Entertaining reality”).
Vasiliy Ryzhonkov from the Skolkovo Center noted that the Fund is ready to support the promising projects.
Oleg Yusupov (CEO at MA-AS Agency) has been the moderator.
Interesting debates developed around the issues of investment into startups on the AR/VR technologies market in Russia, and support of the existing companies.
Second presentation involved matters of the future of VR industry. Discussion gathered top experts: Ilya Flaks(Fibrum), Sergey Orlovskiy (Nival), Kirill Yudintsev (Gaijin), Maksim Chizhov (Virtuality Club), Arman Atoyan (Arloopa).
Vyacheslav Utochkin (Director of educational programs at Higher School of Economics, National Research University) has been the moderator.
Virtual and augmented reality became a key trend in IT. Technologies that not so long ago seemed to be of science fiction nature are the part of today’s normal life.
Lecture visitors discovered ways of AR/VR application not only in marketing, but as well in entertainment: cinema, art, travel.
Each speaker shared experience and peculiarities of working in the niche.
Involved participants: Darya Zolotukhina told about VR headset as a platform for taxitainment, Ben Vaughan addressed the issue of open-sourced software. Great attention of attendees was turned to Georgiy Molodtsov’s presentation titled “Storytelling and 360 video possibilities in tackling social issues”.
Key technologic innovation involved presentation of the first VR costume TeslaSuit from TeslaStudios. Participants could immerse into the world of augmented reality using headsets Fibrum, Homido, BIPOLAR and GearVr, and become the first to see presentation of innovative VR platform Timvi.
Immersive painting technique from GreatGonzo has driven a massive interest, as it allows to see inside of the painting.
Participants were able to play AR hockey on the innovative platform Xinect SDK from Arloopa.
As part of the event, everyone was able to visit a cardboards assembling workshop.
Guests participated in AR quest.
In the challenging initiative, VRSTORE gave away VR headset and eyeglass from Fibrum.
