The future of the film industry with implementation of VR technologies

2016-11-04

Film industry is duly considered to be one of the most promising implementation areas of VR technologies. Back in the XX century iconic fantasy writers vividly described cinemas and household appliances that allowed people to gain virtual experience.

Meanwhile, qualitative VR content is a rather rare thing and in the majority of cases is represented by video games. Not a single virtual reality blockbuster has been released yet, but film festivals and cinemas are emerging, intended for VR films only.

Important news for the industry was the announcement of Radeon Pro technology from AMD, developed for the purpose of creation of photorealistic virtual content in real time. It implies the possibility to create films using a scheme that is close to the standard, which will significantly simplify and expedite the development of VR film industry.

It should be noted that in Russia the industry is also advancing. The first national VR film festival has already taken place in Moscow this year. And Luxor cinema chain is planning to open special halls for demonstrating virtual reality films this autumn.
